The Old Churchyard Cemetery (Meredith tax map coordinates S13-5) was the original church site of the First Baptist Church now located on Highland Street in Meredith, NH. The cemetery is located on the northeast side of True Road approximately 200 yards from Rte. 25. This old cemetery is 86' x 89' in size and is enclosed by a wall of free standing granite fieldstone. There are large stone steps leading up to the cemetery's one entrance and a large pile of rocks located in the western corner of this cemetery. When the adjacent fields were cleared, the fieldstones were apparently dumped on the cemetery's left wall. There are a few gravestones standing in this cemetery, but the majority are lying flat on the ground. There are 26 known, marked graves (mostly slate with a few white marble headstones) and at least 35 unknown burials, adult and children marked by granite head and foot fieldstones within this cemetery.
