from findagrave: 9.5 miles north of Hwy 12 on 3rd St. NW Adams County North Dakota USA Cemetery notes and or description: Burials in this cemetery range from 1920 to 1969. The constitution of the congregation was drawn up August 29, 1907, and was approved by 42 "prairie pioneers" living in Argonne and Holt Townships, Adams County, NDak. For the next 16 years the congregation met at various homes and one-room country schools. In March 1923 the congregation approved the design of the church (28 x 40 with a 9 foot basement,the church proper to be built of tile) and construction began soon after. Three months later (June 24, 1923) a tornado did much damage to the "well begun" upper story of the church. Despite the setback, the church was completed that year. With the advent of the personal auto and the improvement of country roads, many members tranfered to Hettinger Lutheran, located in the nearby town of Hettinger, NDak. Only 19 years after the 1923 laying of the cornerstone, in November 1942, a vote was taken on the question of dissolving the congregation. This first vote to disband failed, and the congregation continued for another three years until December 24, 1945, when the second vote to disband garnered 13 ayes and 1 nay. Immanual Lutheran ceased to exist. Some of its artifacts (stained glass windows, baptismal font, etc.) may be seen at the Dakota Buttes Museum in Hettinger, NDak.
